ucsf center for vision and neuroscience
Our design for the UCSF Center for Vision and Neuroscience at the Mission Bay campus has three distinct plazas. An angled drop-off plaza allows pedestrians and cars to enter seamlessly off Illinois Street. A large paseo connects the campus to the west with the main entry and vehicular drop-off as well as the Bay towards the east. An entry plaza at the corner of 16th Street and 3rd Street filters people into the building and has a generous wood seating plinths for people to sit and enjoy. Sustainable design includes low water use plants, subsurface irrigation, stormwater management through flow-through planters, and a living roof. This project was completed in 2020.
